Frequently Asked Questions
Is pain therapy with you covered by my health insurance or worker’s comp?
Coverage depends on your plan’s out of network limitations. FSA and HSA funds from your insurance can be used but unfortunately I am out of network and not covered by any health insurance directly, including all State and Federally-backed health insurance plans.
What’s the difference between pain therapy, medical fitness, and personal training?
Pain therapy is specific care for clients with chronic pain that address their needs in a multidimensional way.
Medical fitness is for those who have health conditions other than chronic pain that benefits from regular exercise and lifestyle changes.
Personal training is for everyone else: those who don’t have health conditions, those who want to be happier in their own skin, and those who want to perform better.
Can you take my physical therapy or occupational therapy referral??
No. I am not a physical or occupational therapist. Please contact your primary doctor or health insurance company for help with finding an appropriate therapist.
I was told that my pain “is all in my head,” is this true?
Absolutely not. Pain is a very real experience that is unique for everyone and affects us all in different ways. Pain affects our body and our mind and those two experiences cannot be separated from each other.
What does a typical first session look like?
It varies a little depending on the service you are using, but generally, I will conduct a thorough health history, physical assessment, lifestyle inventory, nutritional review, and a quality of life review. These are common to all my clients regardless of the service they are using.
I got hurt exercising, won’t therapeutic exercise just make things worse?
While there may be some initial soreness and stiffness with physical activity that is “new” to your body, this gets better quickly as your body adapts to the care, and modifications are made as-needed, session to session, to ensure you get the most out of your care.
How long will it take until I feel better?
Great question, and I’ll be honest with you, it depends. Most clients doing pain therapy, medical fitness, or personal training for example usually start to see meaningful results in small ways around the 3-4 week mark. Sometimes a little sooner, sometimes a little later. Everyone is unique in how they respond to care.
Do I need a referral from my doctor or physical therapist?
No. Referrals are not required as I am Out-Of-Network and Direct Access.
What is the difference between a physical therapist and an exercise physiologist?
A physical therapist is a licensed healthcare provider who holds a doctoral degree. An exercise physiologist holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine.
There are some similarities between the PT and the EP, such as we both use therapeutic exercise, lifestyle change, coaching, and positive reinforcement to help our clients reach their goals, but the physical therapist is a higher level of care than the exercise physiologist.
Can you prescribe me pain medications?
No, only a licensed healthcare provider with prescribing authority (such as a physician) may prescribe pain medications.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards, Amazon Pay, Affirm, Klarna, Cash App Pay, and Link all securely through Stripe!
Financing is available through Affirm, as well as 0% interest in-house financing.
